Well everything looked really good. All of my labs looked fine with the exception of a little borderline anemia. The really great news came from my primary care physician who said my kidney function tests have resolved all back to normal, which means I'm not on the path to renal failure anymore! By my scale I'm at 109 pounds lost, but even by Dr. Syns scale I was at 102 lost. Didn't surprise me since when I weigh in its right when I get out of the shower and I doubt seriously they would have appreciated me weighing in nekkid!
The only bad news was he felt a very small hernia at the incision site. Not enough to worry about right now, but eventually it will have to get repaired. I'd like to time it out for when I do the panniculectomy and the gastroplasty, that way I'm under anestheisia once and get everything done all at once. I'll talk to Dr.Syn at the 9 month about it.
We did discuss that my PCP wants to schedule me for a colonoscopy due to a family history of colon cancer. The prep is the same, but per Dr.Syn if tey use the GoLitely(Really falsely named, it should have been named GoLikeAFirehose!) then you have to take it in over a longer period of time.
So six months out would I do it all over again?
You bet your life I would. Realistically, there was a good chance I'd either be dead, rapidly progressing to kidney failure because of Type II Diabetes, or in a wheelchair from a stroke if I hadn't had the surgery. My kids have their Dad back to go hiking, play ball, and tuck them in at night.
6 months ago I bet my life when I laid down on that OR table. I won the jackpot.
